The founders of Science Score had a passionate idea way back in 2006 to create a memorable website for kids that delivered the fun experience of addictive games and knowledge experience of a Science tutor. The idea soon became an obsession and was consummating all their thinking during their waking hours and all their conscious moments. Given their own background and experience (one was a passionate teacher and the other was an entrepreneur with a creative streak and many years of experience in technology companies) they committed themselves to this cause with unwavering faith.
After a brief market research exercise in late 2005, the team set out to develop an early beta which was released in 2006 and put through rigorous testing with nearly 1000 kids in Singapore. This exercise helped fix lot of early stage bugs and add a lot of cool new features. In 2007 a major initiative was undertaken to build a virtual world interface and the site went through substantial re-engineering. After months of testing, the new version was soft launched in Feb 2008.
The initial endorsements and positive testimonials to the new version from thousands of kids have reinforced the founders’ faith to position this in new markets and make Science Score benefit millions of kids around the world.
Understanding Science is about understanding the way everything in this Universe operates. This understanding has led to all the inventions and discoveries that help us live the life we live today. Every object that we have come to possess and everything that we have come to use (from a simple light bulb to a cell phone to life saving drugs) is the result of applying science and gaining an understanding of how the laws of the Universe work. We need our kids to grow with this understanding. We need them to love Science even if they don’t choose to become scientists. We need them to understand what it takes to make this planet a better place to live. After all they are the future of our planet. We hope Science Score will become the catalyst to raise kids’ awareness and their love for Science.
